IntraLasik is the newest method of vision correction. Dr. William Boothe performs the IntraLasik procedure by using an IntraLase Femtosecond laser. IntraLase Femtosecond laser is designed to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, lamellar and penetrating corneal transplantation. IntraLase allows surgeons to create a corneal flap with ultimate precision and unlimited possibilities. The implantation of intrastromal rings is performed more simply and safely due to the IntraLase laser technology. IntraLase laser is used to create a uniquely thin, “flat” corneal flap, completely controlling the diameter, thickness and alignment with minimal disruption to the structure of the stroma and corneal biomechanics.
Comparative results of patients after conventional LASIK using a microkeratome and after IntraLasik surgery using Femtosecond laser certain speak in favor for the new IntraLasik technology. The Femtosecond laser creates thousands of microscopic bubbles and they are delivered to the corneal stroma at a needed depth, which was set and designed in the preoperative examination and is optimal for individual patient requirements. These “bubbles” separates the corneal flap, creating a super smooth and precise cut with the correct form that is necessary for laser correction.
Using IntraLase laser Dr. Boothe of Boothe Eye Care can guarantee a more rapid recovery of visual functions after laser eye surgery. The majority of patients prefer to do IntraLasik surgery because the newest method of laser surgical correction uses the laser beam instead of a surgical blade to create the corneal flap, which provides a much higher level of security.
Benefits of IntraLasik eye surgery
• The IntraLasik procedure improves eyesight to 20/20 or better. As a result of statistical processing of data, the visual outcome is much better after IntraLasik refraction surgery than after standard Lasik. Many patients who underwent IntraLasik at Boothe Eye Care Center reported a better “quality” of vision and they were able to see clearly in low light and twilight
• The IntraLase laser allows Dr. William Boothe to design the desired corneal flap during surgery. The optimal corneal flap can be easily generated for each eye with individually desired slice thickness and individually desired diameter of the flap. All of these points improve the final result of the operation which are absent in the standard Lasik.
Keep in mind, IntraLasik surgery is absolutely painless. For five minutes before the procedure, an assistant will place anesthetic drops into your eyes. Then, Dr. Boothe will put a special ring on your eye and will begin to use the laser. The absolute absence of any discomfort during surgery is an additional factor that favors this new technique. The formation of the flap with the IntraLase takes 15-30 seconds. Including the preoperative preparation, the whole operation takes about 10-12 minutes.
Lasik surgery is the most commonly applied laser eye correction procedure in the world. Today a huge number of ophthalmology centers and clinics use Lasik to correct visual impairment of varying degrees. In the last ten years, more than 15 million Lasik eye correction procedures were performed around the world.
Dr. William Boothe is cornea specialist. He has performed more than 83,000 IntraLasik eye procedures and 121,000 Lasik eye procedures. Since 1987, Dr. Boothe has operated on more patients than any refractive surgeon in the world. Without a doubt, Dr. Boothe has the greatest experience in the field of refractive surgeries.
What is Lasik Eye Surgery?
Lasik is the combination of microsurgical exposure and excimer laser technology. During laser eye surgery Dr. Boothe uses a special device called a microkeratome that creates a flap of corneal tissue. Then, the flap is pulled back and the laser works on reshaping the cornea. The excimer laser creates a new form of the cornea. As a result, patients may achieve 20/20 vision or better.
During the Lasik eye procedure the excimer laser does not affect on the upper layers of the cornea. This allows you to avoid keratoleukoma and a painful period of recovery. Your eyesight will be restored in the shortest possible time.
The boundaries of laser vision correction procedure for LASIK:
- • Myopia up to -15,0 D (Physician focuses on the individual characteristics of the eye)
- • Farsightedness +6,0 D
- • Astigmatism ± 3,0 D.
Benefits of Lasik Laser Correction:
- You can go to work the next day after Lasik surgery and there is no need for hospitalization
- In the course of Lasik correction procedure applies the local, drip anesthesia, that is easily tolerated by patients
- You can perform laser correction surgery immediately on both eyes
- Lasik offers the shortest recovery time – your eyesight is restored just a few hours after the procedure
- High efficiency & safety: this painless procedure allows patients to achieve good vision with minimal risk of side effects
- Painlessness in the postoperative period
- During the process of laser surgery, the upper layers of cornea are not damaged
- Through many years of observations, that cases of visual impairment due to laser treatment were not detected

Intralase Keratoplasty is an innovative technique used in corneal transplantation. Intralase keratoplasty provides excellent results as it is the combination of corneal transplantation and refractive surgery. The laser techniques in this procedure reduce the imperfections that are caused in corneal transplantation surgery that was done manually. It is a bladeless surgery performed using infrared laser and is very quick and efficient. This technique enables a faster recovery after completing the surgery. In IntraLase Keratoplasty, IntraLase Femtosecond Laser is used to make corneal incisions. This laser produces around 60,000 pulses every second when creating the beam of energy. The energy released by the laser is capable of creating corneal incisions with greater accuracy.
The graft created by the help of the IntraLase laser will be more stable with fewer sutures that can result in faster recovery and better vision. Dr. Boothe of Boothe Eye Care will program the laser in such a way to produce precise and safer incisions on the cornea as well as on the corneal tissue that has to be transplanted. The laser will produce two identical pieces so that the donor cornea can fit properly on the recipient’s eye. Because of the preciseness in fitting, chances of getting astigmatism are reduced.
IntraLase Keratoplasty is suitable for making complex incisions that are impossible with traditional LASIK surgery. The corneal incisions made out of the laser have an interlocking design so that the corneal graft created will be more stable. The sutures of IntraLase Keratoplasty can be taken out much earlier than that of the traditional LASIK surgical procedure. The complication caused due to graft displacement is minimal in the case of IntraLase Keratoplasty when compared to the traditional surgical procedure.
The corneal incisions made with the help of trephines (in traditional LASIK) will not have perfect interlocking as that of the corneal incisions made using laser. The corneal incision created with laser will interlock with each other perfectly and effectively to produce better results. The success of IntraLase Keratoplasty is 85% and the results of the surgery depend on several factors. If you are suffering from retinal problems or glaucoma, then the outcome of your surgery may not be precise. There is also a possibility of graft rejection by the eyes. In the majority of the cases, the patient will obtain improved vision gradually and the recovery time also varies from one patient to patient.
The patient may have to use contact lenses or eye glasses even after corneal transplantation. If you are not satisfied with you vision improvement, you can go for laser enhancement surgery to get better vision. IntraLase Keratoplasty takes around one hour to complete. The surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure in which local or general anesthesia is used. Dr. Boothe will recommend that you use medicated eye drops prevent rejection of the graft. A complete eye examination is required before undergoing IntraLase Enabled Keratoplasty. If you are interested in learning more about Intralase Keratoplasty, please visit Boothe Eye Care.
Bladeless LASIK works similarly to traditional LASIK. The only difference between them is that traditional LASIK uses the microkeratome for cutting the corneal flap, and bladeless LASIK uses laser energy. During a bladeless LASIK procedure, Dr. Boothe uses a laser to create the corneal flap and to reshape the cornea. Bladeless LASIK allows the surgeon to customize the flap creation for each person. Flap creation using laser technology greatly reduces the risks and complications associated with LASIK.
Bladeless LASIK surgery uses two kinds of lasers – an excimer laser and a femtosecond laser. The femtosecond laser is used to create a corneal flap and the flap is folded back so the refractive error can be corrected. The excimer laser is then used to remove the corneal tissue exposed in order to correct the corneal shape. After correcting the shape of the cornea, the flap is placed back on to the surface and starts healing. Bladeless LASIK is best suited for patients with very thin corneas and also patients who have previously done LASIK surgery. The bladeless LASIK procedure is also known as the IntraLase surgical procedure. In comparison with traditional LASIK, it is safer and quicker. The corneal flap can be created within 30 seconds and in some cases, 10 seconds.
Bladeless LASIK requires less energy usage so the risks of corneal tissue damage or inflammations are low compared to traditional LASIK. The development of dry eye is also uncommon. Several complications such as decentered flaps, micro perforations, buttonholes and irregular flaps can be eliminated by the use of bladeless LASIK.
If you would like to undergo bladeless LASIK, you have to be at least 18 years or older without any health problems. You cannot use eyeglasses or contact lenses for at least one week prior to the bladeless LASIK procedure. After completing the surgery, you should not swim or rub your eyes for several weeks. Side-effects such as dry eyes, halos, and light sensitivity will gradually disappear. Dr. Boothe will go through all the precautions that you should take before and after the surgery.
“Getting laser eye surgery was one of the most important decisions in my life. I’ve never had any surgery done, but I know that in order for it to be successful, I had to do my research and be well informed. I discussed my desire to undergo Lasik surgery with my ophthalmologist who encouraged me to visit Boothe Eye Care & Laser Center. I began to ask my friends and family who have had their procedures at Boothe Eye Care Center about their experience. They were very content with the service and professionalism of the staff. Such positive testimonials from people who are close to me prompted me to schedule a consultation with Dr. William Boothe.
When I met Dr. Boothe, he seemed like a very nice person. He carefully explained each step of the procedure, all risks involved., and the cost. I thought that the procedure was safe and would be performed with great precision. I trusted Dr. Boothe to do a great job.
I spent a day at the Boothe Eye Care Center for eye examinations, then I discussed with Dr. Boothe the laser treatment which will be customized for my individual exam results. His assistant then made the appointment for surgery.
The procedure was done with the latest technology available in laser surgery. Dr. Boothe successfully performed the laser correction and I now have 20/20 vision! I am so grateful to Dr. Boothe for his excellent work!”
“When my eyesight quickly deteriorated, I was shocked. I was afraid that one day I might just go blind. Every year, for five years, I had to get a new prescription because my eyesight had declined. I can’t see anything without my glasses. After visiting Dr. William Boothe, I understood that my vision problem could be treated with laser eye treatment. Dr. Boothe explained that this procedure is very safe and takes very little time.
Everyone at Boothe Eye Care Center was friendly and informed. I was encouraged to ask questions if I was confused about something. During my first consultation with Dr. Boothe he explained in detail all the steps that would take place during the procedure. Also, during the initial appointment, Dr. William Boothe was very personable and took the time to tell mewhat to expect during and after the laser eye surgery.
Now, six weeks after my IntraLasik surgery I have noticed that I am seeing better than I ever did with my eyeglasses. Thanks to Dr. William Boothe and the rest of the staff at the Boothe Eye Care Center, I no longer need my glasses! I highly recommend Dr. Boothe for anyone who is interested in getting their vision corrected.”
Why Do Sports Stars Choose Boothe Eye Care Center?
Many sports stars including football players and referees chose to have their laser eye surgery done where they were able to improve their vision. Kaka, the Brazilian football star and FIFA World Player in 2007 suffered from nearsightedness and astigmatism. After his IntraLasik procedure, he was ecstatic from the successful outcome of his vision correction
Lasik eye correction surgery is a great solution for major athletes who depend on their vision condition to succeed in their professional sport. Eyeglasses and contacts are cumbersome and are uncomfortable when playing a game. Glasses can be broken or may slip off during physical contact. Contact lenses can also slip out of place during a game. In addition, contact lenses are limited to correcting vision in early morning and late evening. That is why players with regular practices cannot use contact lenses all of the time – because they are restricted by daylight hours. By using eyeglasses or contact lenses, the player never feels confident which can affect their game play. Even referees rely on their eyesight in order to fairly judge the moves of the game.
Thor Orrason , a FIFA referee, was one of the referees who corrected their vision with Lasik surgery. He used sporting eyeglasses and contact lenses for about twenty years and finally underwent laser eye surgery in 2005.
There are different kinds of laser treatments that Dr. William Boothe offers. You can always discuss with the different methods of treatment that you are interested in with Dr. W. Boothe.
