If you do not comply with the requirements for vision correction surgery, Dr. William Boothe may refuse to provide you with an eye survey or laser eyesight correction procedure.
Please arrive at the clinic an hour and a half before your scheduled vision correction procedure.
After your vision is checked, you will be prepared for the procedure. The area around your eyes will be cleaned; you will be dressed in sterile surgical boots, a coat, and a hat. The nurse will take you into the laser operating room, where you will have to wait for Dr. Boothe. The nurse will apply anesthetic drops into your eyes. After that, the eyelids will be held open for the procedure using a blepharostat.
Dr. Boothe programs the excimer laser according to the data that was obtained during the refraction survey. After that, the microkeratome instrument, designed to create the thinnest flap will be installed on the eye surface. During the microkeratome work you will feel a little pressure, but no pain. After that Dr. Boothe gently push the flap aside and ask you to look directly at the red light in front of you and if possible to not move the eye.
However, even if at the time of surgery you move your eyes, do not worry because the computer is equipped with a special tracking system that tracks your eye position during surgery. The laser beam will turn off if the eye has deviated from the desired position.
Laser eye surgery can last up to 10 minutes, depending on the degree of refractive error and patient behavior. During the laser treatment you will hear clicks and you may smell something. The surgeon will warn you of these things. After the procedure, the flap will be returned to its place, and you will be done!
For the remainder of the day, you should rest and strictly adhere to the instructions of Dr. Boothe. You may feel some discomfort, which will be eliminated with special eye analgesic. In some rare cases there may be a light hypersensitivity and watering of the eyes for 1-2 days.
